The NGO Committee on Freedom of Religion or Belief and the NGO Committee on Human Rights is pleased to invite you to a special presentation on September 12, 2013, by Imam Baba Leigh titled, “The Consequences of Practicing Freedom of Religion When the Government Tells Clergy What to Say.”

This presentation will take place Thursday, September 12, 2013, from 1:15 to 2:45 p.m., in the  Bahá’í International Community United Nations Office, located at 866 UN Plaza (Suite 120), New York, NY 10017.

Imam Baba Leigh faced persecution in Gambia last year for delivering sermons opposing  the country’s death penalty law. The Gambian government has since approved tighter restrictions on criticism of its policies and officials. Imam Baba Leigh will discuss his experience, as well as the importance of broader efforts to secure the rights to freedom of religion or belief.

This event is open to the public. To attend, please RSVP to mdedora@centerforinquiry.net.
