Civil Society Briefing on the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly

The Third Committee of the UN General Assembly is an important body tasked with handling a range of social, humanitarian, and human rights issues. Its work includes the examination of reports on the special procedures of the UN Human Rights Council, and the consideration of country-specific and thematic resolutions. Yet, many civil society actors remain unaware of the Third Committee’s agenda or how to influence it.

Thursday, November 12, the NGO Committee on Freedom of Religion or Belief will host a briefing to both educate civil society  actors on the inner work of the Third Committee, and inform them how they can get more involved with its proceedings.

Speakers will include Madeleine Sinclair of the International Service for Human Rights, Christen Broecker of the Jacob Blaustein Institute for the Advancement of Human Rights, and Bani Dugal of the Bahá’í International Community.

This event will take place Thursday, November 12, 2015 from 1-3 p.m., at the Bahá’í International Community United Nations Office, located at 866 UN Plaza (Suite 120), New York, NY 10017.
