On Friday, October 24, 2014, the UK Delegation to the United Nations is sponsoring a side event entitled “Religion in the Workplace: Comparative and International Perspectives against the Background of the Annual Report of the UN Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Religion or Belief.” RSVP is required.
This event be held from 1:15 to 2:30 p.m. (box lunches will be available commencing at 12:30) in Conference Room 7 at UN Headquarters. It will be chaired by Peter Wilson, CNG, Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative, UK Mission to the United Nations. Panelists will include Special Rapporteur Heiner Bielefeldt, who will introduce his report (available here). This will be followed by policy recommendations by several prominent commentators, including Katayoun Alidadi (Expert on Workplace Issues in the Council of Europe’s Religare Project); Lucy Vickers, Oxford Brookes University (United Kingdom); W. Cole Durham, Jr., President, International Consortium for Law and Religion Studied (Milan) and Director, International Center for Law and Religion Studies at Brigham Young University (United States); Richard Foltin, Director, National and Legislative Affairs, American Jewish Committee (Washington, D.C.); Todd R. McFarland, Associate General Counsel, General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists (Silver Spring, Maryland, USA); and Peter Petkoff, Brunel Law and Religion Research Group, Brunel Law School, and Religion, Law and International Relations Program, Regents Park College, Oxford (United Kingdom).
