Reports from the Field: An Update on the Rights to Freedom of Religion or Belief

On Monday, April 13, the United Nations NGO Committee on Freedom of Religion or Belief will host an informal discussion with several NGO representatives working in the field of freedom of religion or belief, who will discuss their recent initiatives to protect and advance these important human rights.

Speakers will include:

  • Ed Brown, head of the department on Human Rights and Freedom of Religion or Belief at the Norway-based NGO Stefanus Alliance International, who will discuss his organization’s work, and some of the areas it is focusing on most.
  • Michael De Dora, representative of the Center for Inquiry to the United Nations; and Bani Dugal, representative of the Baha’i International Community to the United Nations, both of whom attended the 28th session of the UN Human Rights Council, and will discuss the Council’s activities on freedom of religion or belief.

After brief remarks by the speakers, attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback.

This event will take place Monday, April 13, 2014, from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m., in the Bahá’í International Community United Nations Office, located at 866 UN Plaza (Suite 120), New York, NY 10017.
